Standing up against Post Office privatisation

This National Assembly opposes the proposed part-privatisation of the Royal Mail: putting at risk tens of thousands of jobs and the services provided by post offices throughout Wales. This Assembly further believes that opening up of the postal market to competition:

  • has led to the closure of post offices;

  • damages universal service provision harming isolated and deprived communities in particular.

This Assembly also believes that Post Offices are a key tool in tackling financial and social exclusion which must be protected despite commercial pressures.
