Don’t Write Me Off

This Assembly:

Notes with concern the National Autistic Society's Don't Write Me Off report. Of adults with autism surveyed:

  • One-third are without a job or benefits

  • Just 15% have a full-time job

  • 79% on Incapacity Benefit want to work

  • 82% who have applied for benefits needed support to apply

Believes that of the estimated 18,000 adults with autism in Wales too many find themselves written off, receiving neither benefits nor support to access work.

Calls upon the Welsh Assembly Government to work closely with JobCentre Plus to deliver the changes required in Don't Write Me Off.
