Name Change key information

On 6 May 2020 the National Assembly for Wales became the Welsh Parliament or Senedd Cymru, commonly known as the Senedd.

The name changed because the Senedd today is a very different institution to the original Assembly established in 1999. Now with full law-making powers and the ability to vary taxes, the new name will reflect its constitutional status as a national parliament.

Here are some key practical changes that came into force on 6 May 2020.

Members titles

Members will be known as Members of the Senedd (MS) and Aelodau o'r Senedd (AS).

Emails

Email addresses changed to name.surname@senedd.wales / enw.cyfenw@senedd.cymru

In most cases the prefix of previous email addresses - first name, surname and any numbers - remain the same.

While old @assembly.wales / @cynulliad.cymru addresses remain active for a limited transitional period, we encourage you to use the new addresses as early as possible.

Website

The website has changed to www.senedd.wales and www.senedd.cymru. Although links on external sites using the 'old' domain names will be redirected, we encourage you to use the new web address.

Address and post code

The new Senedd address and post code is:
