Social Media Community Guidelines
Our social media channels provide information to keep you up to date with the work of the Senedd and opportunities to get involved.
They are also a place for you to share experiences, and start conversations about the issues that matter to you.
So it is important that our social media channels are a safe place for debate and conversation.
To make this possible, we ask you to follow these guidelines while interacting on our social media channels.
Be kind and respectful:
We want to hear from you and welcome questions, commentary and diverse opinions. But please be respectful with what you post.
We do not tolerate posts that are:
- Discriminatory, obscene, inflammatory, harassing, hateful, threatening, profane or personally abusive.
- Hateful in language targeting race/ethnicity, age, religion or belief, gender, gender reassignment or gender identification, sexual preference or orientation, marital or civil partnership status, pregnancy or maternity, nationality, political beliefs, disability or illness.
- Spamming in nature.
- Fraudulent, deceptive, libellous, misleading or unlawful.
- Supportive of hate groups or terrorists.
- Refer to criminal or illegal activity.
- Seeking to sell or obtain anything or solicit donations
Removal of posts and user bans:
Where available, we use a social media channel’s filters to automatically hide obscenities, and we reserve the right to hide or remove comments that go against our guidelines. We may also report any posts that breach these guidelines to the relevant social network.
If we do so, we will reply to let you know this is the case, unless your comments have repeatedly broken our guidelines and we have explained this to you before.
On rare occasions, we may ban or block people from our social media channels if the nature of their comments does not change.
We will always warn you of this and highlight our social media community guidelines before doing so.
Social media channels are public:
Please remember that social networks contain the opinions and views of other people.
Anything posted to our social media channels networks may be seen and read by anyone.
Although we moderate our channels to help ensure that posts comply with our guidelines, we cannot be and are not responsible for the accuracy or reliability of any comments or materials posted by other people.
Protect your privacy & the privacy of others:
Your posts and comments on any of our social media channels will be public.
Do not share or post any personal or sensitive information that you would not want to make public or generally available about yourself or others.
Comment moderation and response:
We make it a habit to read all messages, posts and comments. We do our best to moderate and respond quickly to your comments and feedback.
Generally, we check in several times a day Mon – Fri and once on weekends and Public Holidays.
Make sure the content is yours:
Only post content if you have the proper permission from its rightful owners.
If it belongs to someone else, please don’t post it. We will hide or remove posts that contain copyrighted and trademarked material and other intellectual property.
