The Senedd Opening Hours:

Weekdays - term time Monday and Friday 9:30am - 4:30pm, Tuesday to Thursday 8:00am - end of business

Weekdays - recess Monday to Friday 9:30am - 4:30pm

Saturday, Sunday and Bank Holidays (all year) 10:30am - 4:30pm.

(Please note that last admission is 30 minutes before closing).



Members of the public can access the Senedd building either by using the steps and ramps on the plinth at the front of the building or by means of the lift located to the side, adjacent to the Wales Millennium Centre. Both routes bring visitors to the top of the plinth, the entrance level. Once visitors have entered the Senedd, members of the S, members of the Security and ushering staff will be available to provide assistance as required. Visitors requiring help with mobility may wish to use the wheelchairs provided for public use in the building.

There is a cloakroom facility for public use in the scanner area on Senedd sitting days.


There are lifts and stair access to all the public areas of the Senedd.


There is seating available for the public in the Neuadd and in the Oriel.

Access to the public galleries to listen and to view plenary and committee meetings

Although it is preferable to book seats for the public galleries in advance, to avoid disappointment, this is not always necessary and visitors wishing to gain access on the day can enquire at the Reception desk to find out whether there are seats available.

Facilities for people with young children

There is pram / pushchair access to all the public areas. Baby changing facilities are available in the Neuadd. There is a dedicated space in the Senedd café with child-friendly activities and toys, as well as a quiet room with sensory toys and a nursing chair. 


There is a café serving hot and cold drinks and light snacks in the Oriel; this is open as follows:

Information about Senedd proceedings, Members of the Senedd and the Senedd is available to the public on the plasma screens and information pods in the Neuadd and in the Oriel. Staff are on-hand to provide information and to answer questions; a range of publications is also available.

Can I take photographs inside The Senedd?

Photography is usually permitted in public areas of the Senedd as long as it doesn’t disrupt or distract from the business of the Senedd.

Photography from within the public viewing galleries during Plenary or committee meetings is prohibited, however, specific requests can be considered in advance by the Private Office.

It is prohibited to take photographs in any security areas, of any security equipment, devices or  Senedd staff situated on the Welsh Parliament estate. 
It may be helpful if visitors to the Senedd could make themselves known to our Security staff on entry and advise them of their intention of taking photographs.

Public lavatories

There are public lavatories in the Neuadd and a Changing Places facility is provided with an adult changing bed and hoist.
