Dyslexia Rapporteur Group to undertake fact-finding visits

The Dyslexia Rapporteur Group, made up of members of the Enterprise and Learning Committee of the National Assembly for Wales is to visit schools, colleges and organisations with expertise in dealing with dyslexia in North Wales.

The cross party group of AMs (Alun Cairns, Jeff Cuthbert, Janet Ryder and Kirsty Williams) will visit Deeside College, British Dyslexics, Ysgol Bryn Coch, a dyslexia friendly school, to learn more about new and innovative ways of dealing with dyslexia and receive a presentation on Fast For Word, an IT package which helps dyslexic people, at the Daniel Owen Centre,

Members visited the Cardiff Dore Centre in August and have also gathered evidence from the Welsh Dyslexia Project, The British Dyslexia Association Cymru, The Raviv Programme, and Dyslexia Action Cymru during the summer recess and early part of the Autumn Term. The group will submit a report and recommendations on its findings to the Enterprise and Learning Committee during National Dyslexia week which runs from November 5th – 10th. The Committee will take further evidence from leading UK academics.
