Sustainability Committee to take evidence from environmental groups on carbon reduction

The Assembly’s Sustainability Committee is this week taking evidence from Friends of the Earth Cymru, the Centre for Alternative Technology and Wales Environment Link – the umbrella body for environmental voluntary organisations. This is the first of three sessions in which the Committee will be taking evidence on how household and residential carbon emissions can be reduced.

At the same meeting, the Committee will be considering a petition on Coal M Tan – the planning regulation governing opencast mining.

This petition requests a stronger Coal M TAN for Wales with a presumption against opencast coal mining for any new applications or extensions from now onwards.

The meeting takes place at 9.30am on Thursday October 11 in Committee Room 3, Senedd, Cardiff Bay.
