At the end of every Senedd, committees look back on the work they’ve done over the previous five years, and think about the advice they want to leave for the next committee.

They are a useful source of information for new committees, the Members who serve on them and for anyone who takes an interest in their work. They can help all of us to understand what has happened in the past, and the forces that will influence what happens next.

At the start the sixth Senedd, the Committee agreed its strategy, including its vision and objectives which underpin all the work that the Committee carries out.

The Committee was established on 23 June 2021 to examine legislation and hold the Welsh Government to account by scrutinising its expenditure, administration and policy matters, encompassing (but not restricted to): the education, health and well-being of the children and young people of Wales, including their social care.
