Key Interests and achievements
Claire has a strong interest in supporting local communities
and helping people to overcome challenges in their daily lives. Having
previously worked as a carer, she has developed a particular appreciation for
the importance of compassionate support and strong community networks. She is
passionate about public service, values family and community connections, and
is committed to ensuring that people receive practical help when they need it
most.
Personal history
Before being elected to the Senedd, Claire was actively
involved in her local community and church, shaping her particular interest in
community based services. A working mum who has raised three children and cared
for her parents until their passing, Claire’s life and career has always been
deeply rooted in health and social care.
Professional background
Working in the health and social care for several years,
Claire returned to the sector after raising her three children. Claire was
working in care homes before joining an NHS community healthcare support team
providing palliative care to patients in their own homes, as well as
undertaking bank work within the hospital. Claire was also an unpaid carer to
both of her parents until their passing, giving her personal as well as
professional experience of the challenges facing carers and families. he is passionate
about being strongly visible and accessible, listening to people and helping
residents navigate issues affecting their lives.
Political history
Claire became a Town councillor for Monkton on Pembroke Town
council after being co-opted in 2025. She was elected as a Member of the Senedd
for the new Ceredigion Penfro constituency in the 2026 Senedd election and
subsequently became Reform UK’s Shadow Minister for Social Care.
