Lyn has a long record of public service in the communities
of the former Islwyn constituency and the wider southeast valleys. Her work has
covered housing, health and social care, environmental services, local
government, and community regeneration She is particularly interested in how
public money can be used effectively to improve services and strengthen
communities. Since her election to the Senedd, Lyn has served as a member of
the Finance Committee.
Lyn was brought up in Crumlin and has lived in Newbridge
since 1986 and attended Crumlin High Level and Newbridge Comprehensive School.
Lyn has been involved in her local community for many years.
Her community work has included serving as a school governor and working with
local community and voluntary organisations.
Lyn served for more than 15 years as a member of Caerphilly
County Borough Council, representing Newbridge.
During her time on the council, she held senior
responsibilities including Cabinet Member for Environment and Housing and later
Public Services and Housing. She also chaired the council's Health, Social Care
and Wellbeing Scrutiny Committee.
Lyn has represented Plaid Cymru in several elections. She
stood in Islwyn at the 2015 UK general election and the 2016 National Assembly
for Wales election, and in Torfaen at the 2021 Senedd election.
In May 2026 she was elected to the Senedd as a Plaid Cymru
Member for Casnewydd Islwyn.
Her political work has remained closely connected to the
communities in which she grew up and has lived for most of her adult life, with
a particular focus on practical local representation and public services.
