Audit Committee Chair elected

The Assembly Audit Committee has held its first meeting since the election of the Third Assembly. David Melding AM was elected as Chair of the Committee. He said: "I am delighted to have this opportunity to Chair the Audit Committee. The Committee has established itself as a model of effective scrutiny and rigour in the examination of public expenditure.  Whatever the challenges ahead for the Committee, it will build on this reputation and work in a cross-party and non-partisan manner to ensure that Welsh tax-payers get value for money in public services. I wish my fellow committee members every success in this work and I hope to emulate the achievements of my predecessors as Chair of Audit, Janet Davies and Dafydd Wigley.” The European Committee has also held its first meeting.
