The Llywydd of the Welsh Parliament, the Right Honourable Elin Jones MS, thanked Her Majesty The Queen for her lifetime of service as she signed the Senedd’s Book of Condolence.
The Llywydd wrote:
“Gyda phob diolch am oes o wasanaeth. Thank you for your service over the 70 years. Boed i chi heddwch yn eich gorffwys.”
The book is now open for MSs and parliamentary staff to offer their tributes. After the funeral of Her Majesty The Queen, the book will be sent to His Majesty The King from the Llywydd.
Yesterday, the Senedd was recalled in an extraordinary session as Members paid their respects and spoke of their admiration for the monarch’s decades of commitment and service.
A Motion of Condolence was agreed by MSs yesterday and will be read to His Majesty The King when he and Her Majesty The Queen Consort visit the Senedd on Friday. The Royal Party will also meet with Members of the Senedd and Members of the Welsh Youth Parliament.
The motion agreed yesterday states:
“That this Senedd expresses its deep sadness at the death of Her Majesty The Queen and offers its sincere condolences to His Majesty The King and other Members of the Royal Family. We recognise Her Majesty’s enduring commitment to public service and duty, including her support for many Welsh charities and organisations, and her lifelong association with Wales and its people.”
