The National Assembly for Wales:

Recognises the important contribution of a modern transport infrastructure in developing a prosperous economy and in combating social exclusion.

The National Assembly for Wales:

Calls on the Welsh Assembly Government to bring forward a timetable for closing the gap in education funding that exists between England and Wales.

The National Assembly for Wales:

Believes that the Home Office's decision to cease funding for the 101 service in the Cardiff and South Wales area will increase the financial pressure on local councils.

To propose that the Assembly resolves to adopt the following amendments to motions:

Add new point at end of Motion:

Calls on the Welsh Assembly Government to work with police authorities and local authorities to roll out the 101 service across Wales.

To propose that the Assembly resolves to adopt the following amendments to motions:

1. Kirsty Williams (Brecon and Radnorshire)

Add new point at end of motion:

Recognises that a transport infrastructure, based upon the principle of reducing road use in favour of public transport and rail freight is an essential part of building an environmentally sustainable economy.

2. Kirsty Williams (Brecon and Radnorshire)

Add new point at end of motion:

Recognises that improvements to walking and cycling facilities provide huge potential in combating social exclusion and creating a healthier and safer Wales.

3. Carwyn Jones (Bridgend)

Insert the word “sustainable”  before the word “modern”.

Add new point at end of motion:

Recognises the continuing “funding fog” surrounding education in Wales.

2. Kirsty Williams (Brecon and Radnorshire)

Add new point at end of motion:

Regrets the lack of progress in implementing the recommendations in the report of the Committee on School Funding published in June 2006.

3. Kirsty Williams (Brecon and Radnorshire)

Add new point at end of motion:

Calls on the Assembly Government to recognise the HEFCW estimate of the current funding gap between England and Wales.

Acknowledges the valuable assistance given to the public by the 101 service.

2. Carwyn Jones (Bridgend)

Delete all after area and replace with:  

could increase the financial pressure on local councils but notes that this decision is not a matter which falls within the devolved responsibilities of the Welsh Assembly Government.
