NDM4493 Jane Hutt (Vale of Glamorgan)

The National Assembly for Wales:

1. Welcomes the sustained reduction in crime in Wales in recent years; and

2. Recognises the contribution that the Welsh Assembly Government's funding for crime reduction and community safety activity, as well as the overall increase in funding from the Home Office and the Welsh Assembly Government since 1999, has made in achieving this reduction.

To propose that the Assembly resolves to adopt the following amendments to motions:

1. Nick Ramsay (Monmouth)

Add new point at end of motion:

Regrets increases in incidences of 'violence against the person' since 1998/99 and notes with concern evidence that the public has little trust in official crime statistics.

2. Peter Black (South Wales West)

Add new point at end of motion:

Recognises the importance of police officers in reducing crime and regrets that the number of police officers in Wales has fallen by more than 200 since 2006.
