Item 6: Debate on Ann Jones’ Proposed Legislative Competence Order  

NDM3656 Ann Jones (Vale of Clwyd)

To propose that the National Assembly for Wales, in accordance with Standing Order 22.50:

Agrees that Ann Jones may lay a proposed Order, to give effect to the outline proposed Order provided on 26 June 2007 under Standing Order 22.48, and an Explanatory Memorandum.


The Motion was agreed, in accordance with Standing Order 7.35.

Item 7: Welsh Conservatives Debate

The National Assembly for Wales:

1. Calls on the Welsh Assembly Government to make representations to the UK Government 

a) To reverse any Post Office Closure plan in Wales;

b) To take action to restore financial viability to our Post Office Network.  

The following amendments were tabled:

Amendment 1 - Carwyn Jones (Bridgend)

Delete all after "The National Assembly for Wales:” and replace with:

"1. Calls on the Welsh Assembly Government to continue to make representations to the UK Government to support a vital and sustainable Post Office network in all parts of Wales;

2. Welcomes the commitment in One Wales to a refocused Post Office Development Fund during this Assembly term.”

Amendment 2 - Kirsty Williams (Brecon and Radnorshire)

Add as new point at end of motion:

"Calls on the Assembly Government to make it an immediate priority to reopen the Post Office Redevelopment Fund.”
