Item 3: Motion to elect a Member to the Business Committee

NDM4478 Dafydd Elis-Thomas (Dwyfor Meirionnydd)

To propose that the National Assembly for Wales, in accordance with Standing Order 10.3:

Elects Nick Ramsay (Conservatives) as a member of the Business Committee in place of Alun Cairns (Conservatives).

The motion was agreed, in accordance with Standing Order 7.35.

Item 4: Welsh Conservatives Debate

NDM4477 Nick Ramsay (Monmouth)

The National Assembly for Wales:

1. Recognises the important role Wales plays in developing new treatments for cancer;

2. Expresses disappointment that target waiting times for cancer patients are consistently being missed;

3. Calls on the Welsh Assembly Government to establish an independent cancer co-ordinator to raise awareness of cancer issues and take measures to ensure that 5 year survival rates for cancer are amongst the best in Europe.

3. Recognises the improvements in 5 year cancer survival rates in Wales and the progress towards achieving the Welsh Assembly Government's policy aim for 2015 of comparable survival rates with the best in Europe.

4. Notes that the Welsh Assembly Government has long benefited from independent advice from the Cancer Services Co-ordinating Group.

Item 6: Welsh Liberal Democrats Debate

The National Assembly for Wales:

Notes that around 150,000 people in Wales suffer from osteoporosis and the impact that fractures resulting from osteoporosis have on patients;

Notes the positive effect that Fracture Liaison Services can have on identifying fragility fracture patients, assessing for osteoporosis and offering bone-protecting treatments where appropriate;

Calls on the Welsh Assembly Government to assess the possibility for using this model across Wales in future.
