Item 6: Welsh Conservatives Debate

The National Assembly for Wales

1) Regrets the low level of take up of European Investment Bank (EIB) loans by the Public Sector in Wales.

2) Calls on the Welsh Assembly Government to increase the take up of such loans to help combat the current recession.

The following amendment was tabled:

Add new point at end of motion:

"Notes that any such measures to help combat the recession will only be effective if coupled with a wider strategy to improve public sector finances including more thorough engagement with the private and third sectors in order to maximise finance available for capital projects.”
