Sandy Mewies (Delyn): Will the First Minister outline the links, cultural and economic, which have been developed with other European countries? (WAQ52825)

The First Minister (Rhodri Morgan): The Welsh Assembly Government has a range of Protocols, Memoranda of Understanding, Co-operation Agreements and informal relationships with a range of countries and regions across the world. Within Europe there are formal Memoranda of Understanding that cover a range of sectors and have been used to provide economic, social and cultural development opportunities with Brittany, Latvia, Catalunya, Silesia and Baden-Württemberg.
