To ask the Minister for Children, Education, Lifelong Learning and Skills

Jenny Randerson (Cardiff Central): Will the Minister identify the number of full time equivalent (FTE) students per year attending FE colleges and FE institutions in each of the years from 1997/98 to 2007/08, giving an estimate for 2008/09 and the overall quantum for each year. (WAQ54539)

Jenny Randerson (Cardiff Central): Will the Minister (a) explain how a full time equivalent student is calculated, (b) whether a full time learner is equivalent to 450 guided learning hours per year or whether some other approach is used, and (c) detail how much is included in the quantum used in the definition.
