To ask the First Minister
Andrew RT Davies (South Wales Central): Further to WAQ65820, why were the Big 5 India, the International Food Exhibition (IFE) Johannesburg and the Louisiana Gulf Coast Oil Exposition (LAGCOE) in Lafayette, USA trade missions cancelled, detailing what costs to the Welsh Government were incurred as a result? (WAQ65895)
Answer received on 22 November 2013
The First Minister of Wales: All of these overseas events were cancelled due to a lack of registrations from businesses to attend.
There were no costs incurred by the Welsh Government as a result of the cancellation of IFE or LAGCOE.
The cancellation of Big 5 India incurred costs of £18,986 through non-refundable charges associated with securing the exhibition space.
To ask the Minister for Natural Resources and Food
Paul Davies (Preseli Pembrokeshire): Will the Minister make a statement on why the Energy Saving Trust, funded by the Welsh Government to reduce the carbon footprint, only considers schemes that involve coal and wood and excludes oil and all other forms of fuel? (WAQ65896)
Answer received on 13 November 2013
Alun Davies: The Energy Saving Trust (EST) in Wales is funded by the Welsh Government to provide support to help people improve the energy efficiency of domestic properties and by doing so reduce their energy use and bills. The advice and support provided covers a wide range of property and fuel types, and helps callers access other relevant schemes that are available.
From the information provided, it is possible that a situation such as that described may have resulted from EST referring a caller on to a scheme funded by an energy company under the Energy Company Obligation.
