To ask the Minister for Health and Social Services

Nick Ramsay (Monmouth): What discussions has the Minister had with the Care and Social Services Inspectorate Wales (CSSIW) regarding any future removal of residents from Gibraltar House care home near Monmouth? (WAQ68221)

Answer received on 27 January 2015

The Minister for Health and Social Services (Mark Drakeford): Local authorities hold the responsibility for securing effective provision for care home residents. The Care and Social Services Inspectorate for Wales works closely with local authorities to give assurance that significant changes to services are handled effectively.  I have regular updates on significant live service issues from the Chief Inspector and I have been updated on the particular issues resulting from the removal of residents from Gibraltar House.  I have asked her to write to you with such an update.
