Answer received on 30 March 2017

The Cabinet Secretary for Communities and Children (Carl Sargeant): The Welsh Government has produced and implemented a cross-government Action Plan to advance equality for transgender people. Progress with the Plan will be reported on as part of the Welsh Government's Annual Report on Equality.

A key Action within the Plan is the priority development and implementing of the NHS Wales Strategy for Wales which will include a gender identity care pathway and guidance for healthcare practitioners.

The Welsh Government has commissioned the Welsh Health Specialised Services Committee to develop the pathway for Wales. This work is being supported by additional funding which we have allocated in the 2017-18 Welsh Government budget.
