To ask the Minister for Natural Resources

Janet Finch-Saunders (Aberconwy): Will the Minister advise as to what additional costs have been incurred as a result of additional ongoing repair and maintenance works to the North Shore sea defence works Llandudno previously funded by the Welsh Government? (WAQ68653)

Answer Received 01 May 2015

The Minister for Natural Resources (Carl Sargeant): Conwy County Borough Council have confirmed that the sea defence works funded by the Welsh Government at Llandudno North Shore were completed under budget. Conwy Council are responsible for any further/ongoing maintenance.

To ask the Minister for Health and Social Services

Andrew RT Davies (South Wales Central): Can the Minister please detail what guidance, if any, is given to health boards in relation to the use of functional electrical stimulation (FES) treatments for MS patients, and if such guidance is issued, when is it reviewed? (WAQ68632)

Answer Received 5 May 2015

The Minister for Health and Social Services (Mark Drakeford): The Neurological Conditions Delivery Plan, published in May 2014, sets out our expectation that national guidelines – such as the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) guidelines on Functional Electrical Stimulation, issued in January 2009 – are taken into account by clinicians when exercising their professional judgement in providing the best treatment and services for patients.

The guidance does not override the responsibility of healthcare professionals and others to make decisions appropriate to the circumstances of each patient.  These decisions should be made in consultation with, and with the agreement of, the individual.
