Biography

Nathan Gill was a Member of the National Assembly for Wales between May 2016 and December 2017. This was his biography at the time he left.

Personal history

Nathan’s family moved to Anglesey when he was a child. He attended Ysgol Gymuned Llanerch-y-Medd, followed by secondary and further education in schools and colleges there. After college, Nathan took over the family business, providing care for the elderly, before entering politics.

Nathan is married with five children; all of whom attend Welsh-medium schools. Nathan has a keen interest in WW1 history, reading, gardening and is a self-confessed sun worshipper.

Political history

Nathan has been campaigning and supporting UKIP since 2004 and has stood in various local and national elections as a candidate for the party. Nathan was elected as UKIP MEP for Wales in 2014. In light of the success of the 2014 European Election, Nathan Gill was made UKIP Leader in Wales at the UKIP Wales Autumn Conference, held in Margam in December 2014.

In August 2016, Nathan left the UKIP group in the National Assembly for Wales and became an Independent Assembly Member.
