AMs Give Welsh a Go

Assembly Members from all parts of Wales are supporting the Welsh Language Board’s “Welsh – Give it a go” campaign by learning Welsh at work. The week long campaign starting on Monday September 24th is targeted at Welsh speakers and learners to get them to use more Welsh in their daily lives. The Assembly will be a microcosm for the campaign, which is taking part in 18 areas across Wales, and Members will join in by using the Welsh they have learnt in the Chamber. The AMs’ Welsh tutor Sian Jones said: “All the AMs are very enthusiastic about learning and using Welsh, even if their busy schedules don’t allow them to undertake regular lessons. Some newly elected members are just beginning to learn while other are polishing their skills and already use Welsh regularly. “The Members recognise that speaking Welsh with their constituents is an important part of the service they provide, and are keen to develop their confidence by using it as much as possible. I hope to see them all using at least a little bit of Welsh in the Chamber this week, and even more in the future.” For more information about the campaign contact Luned Jones, Welsh Language Board on 02920 878000 or luned.jones@bwrdd-yr-iaith.org.uk.
