Armistice Day remembered at the Senedd

Event: Two Minute Silence at the Senedd
Where: The Senedd, Cardiff Bay, Cardiff
When: 10.50 Friday 11 November

The National Assembly for Wales is joining the Royal British Legion in marking Armistice Day at the Senedd.

The traditional Two Minute Silence will be led by Presiding Officer Rosemary Butler AM, Deputy Presiding Officer David Melding AM and Ken Terry, County Chairman of North East Glamorgan for the Royal British Legion.

Proceedings will begin at 10.50 with the reading of the Exhortation in the Neuadd before the Senedd falls silent on the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month.

“The National Assembly, in partnership with The Royal British Legion, welcomes this opportunity to mark Remembrance in the Senedd,” said Presiding Officer Rosemary Butler AM.

“This year also marks the tenth anniversary of the beginning of the conflict in Afghanistan.

“This should serve as a reminder to us all that while we will never forget the sacrifice made by all those who died serving their country since the First World War, we should also remember those who are still risking their lives today.”

Members of the public are invited to observe the Two Minute Silence at the Senedd.
