Assembly elects Committee to look at proposed legislation to suspend right-to-buy

The Assembly has voted to establish a Committee to scrutinise the Welsh Government’s proposed new legislation on affordable housing.

The Members of the Proposed Affordable Housing Legislative Competence Order Committee will be Peter Black, Alun Davies, Lesley Griffiths, Mark Isherwood and Leanne Wood.

Legislative Competence Orders are a type of secondary legislation which transfer specific powers from Parliament to the Assembly. This proposed LCO would give the Assembly powers to suspend right-to-buy in certain parts of Wales.

The role of the Committee will be to consider and report on the proposed LCO. It will carry out public consultation and take evidence from key stakeholders. It will meet for the first time on Thursday December 13.
