Committee to take evidence from sector skills councils for inquiry into higher education in Wales

The Assembly’s Enterprise and Learning Committee will continue to take evidence for its inquiry into the economic contribution of higher education in Wales at its next meeting on Thursday June 12th.

The Committee will hear evidence from several sector skills councils from across Wales including: SkillsActive, Semta, Proskill, Asset Skills, Go Skills, EU Skills, IMI (Automotive) Skillset, Skills for Health, Skills for Justice, Skills for Care and Development, and Government Skills

Members will also take evidence from GTW Developments and Park Place Research Limited.

The terms of reference for the inquiry are:

  • To consider the nature of the strategic engagement of Higher Education Institutes with businesses in Wales and beyond and their impact on their local and regional economies

  • The success of HEIs in accessing funding from a range of sources

  • The extent to which entrepreneurial education has been embedded in Welsh HEIs

  • The contribution that HEIs can make to the skills agenda

  • The wider contributions of universities to their localities

The meeting will be held at 1.30pm in Committee Room 1, Senedd, on Thursday June 12.
