A choir made up of 15 Ugandan orphans will today (May 18) deliver a special performance to an audience at the Pierhead in Cardiff Bay.

The Destiny Africa choir is made up of 15 children, aged eight to16, who have been orphaned or left with a parent who can no longer look after them due to war, HIV and AIDS related illness.

The choir, which has already visited Downing Street, is touring the UK to raise awareness of the Kampala Children’s Centre – the orphanage that houses the children.

The children will sing, dance and drum for the Pierhead audience, and speak about their experiences of conflict and their hopes for the future. They will also have a tour of the Senedd.

Arnold Muwonge, Director of the Kampala Children's Centre will also address the audience.

Presiding Officer for the National Assembly for Wales, Lord Dafydd Elis-Thomas said:

“It’s an honour to welcome the Destiny Africa choir to the Pierhead for what promises to be a very special performance.”
