A funeral ceremony to celebrate the life of Rt Hon Rhodri Morgan will take place at 11.00 on Wednesday, 31 May at the Senedd in Cardiff Bay.
The ceremony will be conducted by humanist celebrant Lorraine Barrett and the public are invited to attend.
People wishing to attend the funeral ceremony at the Senedd are advised to arrive early to allow for security checks to be carried out, and should try to avoid bringing large bags.
The Senedd will be open to funeral attendees from 9.30. Space in the building will be limited, however, once capacity is reached, people will be able to gather on the steps of the Senedd where the ceremony will be relayed outside via speakers.
Proceedings will also be streamed live on Senedd TV and on the National Assembly’s YouTube channel.
The ceremony is expected to take 90 minutes but is still subject to changes.
Due to the Champions League finals taking place in Cardiff, extra security measures around the Senedd are in place and may cause delays with traffic and access. Anyone travelling to Cardiff Bay is advised to check the latest road closures and public transport arrangements.
Parking in Cardiff Bay is available at Mermaid Quay, the Red Dragon Centre, the Havannah Street car park and the Pierhead Street car park. Information about visiting the Senedd is available through the ‘plan your visit’ section of the National Assembly website.
Once the Senedd reopens following the ceremony a book of condolence will remain open for people to pay their own personal tributes.
Following the funeral ceremony at the Senedd there will be a service of committal at the Wenallt chapel, Thornhill Crematorium the following day on Thursday 1st June at 14.00. Again, all are welcome.
