Petition Calling for further powers for the Assembly to encourage active travel delivered to Llywydd

             
                

The Llywydd, Lord Dafydd Elis Thomas, and Petitions Committee Member Mike German AM today (Wednesday October 17th) received a petition from Sustrans, a leading sustainable transport charity.

The petition, calls for the Assembly to get extra powers to encourage people out of their cars. The charity has gained support for their petition from organisations including BT, Royal Mail, British Medical Association Cymru, National Union of Teachers Cymru and Age Concern Cymru.

The petitions committee was established following the introduction of new powers for the National Assembly and allows members of the public to submit petitions containing ten or more signatures on matters within the Assembly’s areas of responsibility. This petition will be considered by the Petitions committee shortly.

The Petitions Committee will meet tomorrow (Thursday October 18th) to discuss petitions received earlier on subjects including the call for the re-opening of Carno Station and Redrow Homes’ Application to discharge sewage into the Nant Cylla Watercourse, Ystrad Mynach.
