The Chair of the National Assembly's Public Accounts Committee, Darren Millar AM, has released the following statement in response to the Auditor General for Wales's report "Continuing Healthcare update report" published on 29 January 2015.
"The progress made in addressing many of the issues that the Public Accounts Committee raised in our December 2013 report into Continuing NHS Healthcare is welcome.
"However, the performance of some health boards in dealing with retrospective claims is not acceptable and needs to be addressed immediately to ensure people are dealt with promptly and reasonably. NHS Wales needs to get on top, and then stay on top, of this on-going issue.
"I and other members of the Public Accounts Committee will be seeking assurance on this topic in an evidence session with the Welsh Government on 3rd February 2015."
