Sustainability Committee to begin third part of inquiry into Carbon Reduction

The Assembly’s Sustainability Committee will begin the third part of its inquiry into Carbon Reduction in Wales at its next meeting on Thursday February 7th when it takes evidence on carbon reduction by industries and public bodies.

Members will take evidence from the Tyndall Centre, The Centre for Business Relationships, Accountability, Sustainability and Society, at Cardiff University, The Carbon Trust and the Environment Agency Wales.

The Committee has been carrying out an inquiry into Carbon Reduction since October and due to the size of the project has split the inquiry into six parts. This third part of the committee’s inquiry will look at carbon reduction by industries and public bodies, the first and second parts examined homes and transport respectively, while other parts will focus on energy generation, land use and planning.

The Committee is hoping to publish its first 2 reports, on household and transport carbon reduction at the beginning of March.

The meeting takes place from 9.00am until 11.00am on Thursday February 7th in Committee Room 3, Senedd, Cardiff Bay.
