What turns society into a community – Archbishop to visit Senedd for keynote address

The Archbishop of Canterbury, Dr Rowan Williams, will visit the National Assembly for Wales on Monday, 26 March.

As part of the visit he will deliver a keynote address to an audience made up of members of the public..

He will share his views on what he believes unites and strengthens communities.

The address, which will start at 1pm and will be chaired by BBC Wales Political Editor Betsan Powys, will then be followed by a question & answer session with the Archbishop.

Prior to the address Dr Williams will sit-in on a debate in Siambr Hywel with young people from across Wales. The event is being organised in partnership with CEWC Cymru, the educational charity that helps youngsters develop as active citizens of Wales and the world

“It is important that we are able to unite the Welsh public with key public figures to discuss the major issues that are facing all our communities, and to let that feed into the decision-making process here at the Senedd,” said Presiding Officer, Rosemary Butler AM.

“The Archbishop is a key figure in public life in Wales, and the UK, and it will be a great honour for me to welcome him to the Assembly.”
