An exhibition by Vision Fountain
Sponsored by Julie Morgan MS
Dates: 24 May – 12 July 2025
Location: Senedd Oriel
“Wales was officially designated a Nation of Sanctuary in 2019, yet its history of offering refuge stretches back centuries. Italians settled in Wales in the 19th century, not only because its hills and castles reminded them of home, but because they discovered something just as important: friendship and community. That enduring spirit of welcome continues today.”
“Wales: A Home From Home brings together stories gathered from Wales' diverse global communities. The multi-media exhibition presents collected stories through a blend of traditional methods and innovative technologies, including virtual reality, ensuring engagement across all age groups.”
“While the project celebrates moments of joy, it also explores painful memories—stories of trauma, displacement, and the challenges of building a new life in an unfamiliar place.”
“By weaving together these stories and images, the exhibition illustrates why Wales has long been a nation of sanctuary and how its welcoming spirit continues to shape the lives of people from around the world.”
