Visitor Safety at the Senedd

We’re committed to providing a safe and welcoming experience for everyone who visits the Senedd.

To help keep everyone safe:

  • Entry may be refused if you’re under the influence of alcohol
  • Food, alcohol and unsealed drinks are not allowed inside
  • Inappropriate behaviour may result in being asked to leave
  • You must leave the building if requested by staff
  • Visitor numbers may be limited for health and safety reasons

Security Procedures

To protect visitors and staff, we use:

  • X-ray screening for bags and personal items
  • Metal detection archways
  • Hand-held scanners if needed
  • Monitoring by trained security staff

These procedures may change depending on the current security threat level.

Access to Restricted Areas

Some areas of the Senedd are restricted. Visitors can enter these areas only when escorted by a staff member with a building pass. You’ll be given a visitor pass at reception which must be worn and visible at all times.

See our full Code of Conduct for Visitors (pdf 162kb).
