Keep British Sign Language on ITV Wales Tonight

This Assembly:

1) Calls on ITV Wales' to reverse its decision to remove British Sign Language interpretation from the Wales Tonight bulletins as of 6th February 2009.

2) Recognises BSL as a language in its own right.

3) Believes that deaf BSL users should have the opportunity to access Welsh news in their first language and so acknowledges that this decision will deprive a significant part of Wales' deaf population from accessing current affairs and news in their area.

4) Realises that BSL broadcast services are insufficient and deeply regrets any reduction in such broadcasting.
