Statutory Redundancy Pay

This Assembly

• recognises the global economic downturn is causing a rise in unemployment in Wales;

• is cognisant of the need to support Welsh workers who have been made redundant as a consequence;

• believes the current link between Statutory Redundancy Pay and RPI has seen the value of redundancy pay consistently decline in real terms; and

• supports the call by Welsh trade unions and others to review the mechanism by which SRP is calculated, as a matter of urgency.
