Mental Health Services for Deaf People

This Assembly:

- Recognises the need for mental health services in Wales to cater for the needs of deaf people;

- Recognises that despite the higher prevalence of mental health problems amongst deaf people, Wales is the only UK country not providing specialist mental health services for deaf people of all ages;

- Welcomes the proposals submitted to the Health Minister in October 2010 by professionals across health, social care and voluntary sector with recommendations on pathways and service delivery;

- Urges the Welsh Government to respond positively and quickly to the recommendations and ensure equality of services for deaf people.
