Regional Pay

This Assembly:

1. Condemns the plan to consider regional pay structures announced in the Autumn Statement by Chancellor George Osborne;

2. Recognises that regional pay structures would be a serious detriment to working people in Wales and poorer regions of England; and

3. Believes that the UK Government’s policy would entrench regional poverty.

1. Condemns the plan to consider regional pay structures announced in the Autumn Statement by Chancellor George Osborne;

2. Recognises that imposing special pay scales on the UK nations and regions would entrench existing wealth inequalities in the UK;

3. Calls on the First Minister to open discussions immediately with the UK government to ensure power over pay and conditions for teachers is determined in Wales.
