30th Anniversary of the Miners' Strike

This National Assembly for Wales:

Recognises the 30th anniversary of the miners strike led by the National Union of Mineworkers;

Supports the call for an inquiry into events at Orgreave in June 1984;

Calls upon the Conservative party to apologise for lying to the people in 1984 about its intentions to decimate the coal industry;

Recognises the resilience of mining communities in defending their industry;

Recognises the important role played by women in mining communities during and after the strike; and

Believes that continuing support for former mining communities is essential to the economic growth of Wales.
