Falling price of milk

This Assembly:

Notes the importance of the dairy industry to the Welsh food sector and wider rural economy;

Regrets the significant reduction in the farmgate price of milk in recent months; and

Calls on the Welsh Government to:

a) Use Rural Development Programme to funding to develop supply chains to minimise industry volatility;

b) Enhance procurement policies to better support the Welsh dairy sector; and

c) Encourage local production of more added value produce.
