The Planning Bill and the Welsh language

This Assembly:

Calls on the Welsh Government to consider the following proposals:

(a) give power to local planning authorities to permit or refuse developments on the basis of their impact on the Welsh language, by making the Welsh language one of the statutory material considerations;

(b) give local planning authorities more freedom to set housing targets that better reflect local needs;

(c) establish a statutory purpose for the planning system;

(d) establish a statutory system of Welsh language impact assessments for major planning applications and development plans; and

(e) establish measures to ensure houses are more affordable for local people.
