Remit
The Committee was established on 16 June 2026 to examine legislation and hold the Welsh Government to account by scrutinising its expenditure, administration and policy matters, encompassing (but not restricted to): culture, the arts, historic environment, communications, Welsh Language, broadcasting, the media, and sport.
Committee Chair job sharing
The position of Chair of the Committee is shared (under Standing Order 17A) between Mair Rowlands MS and Lis McLean MS.
Job sharing is an innovative arrangement for a Senedd committee, and for parliamentary committees worldwide. The Senedd is trialling job sharing as part of wider efforts to enhance flexibility, accessibility and diversity within parliamentary roles.
A protocol has been agreed between the Chairs, which sets out the intended ways of working, providing clarity and transparency for Committee members and officials, the wider Senedd, stakeholders and the public.
