5 July 2013

Britain’s most senior judge is to give the inaugural Standards Commissioner lecture at the Pierhead on 16 July.

Lord Chief Justice Judge will give his lecture on the theme of “The Assembly: A Beacon of Standards in Public Life in Wales”.

The inaugural lecture has been timed to coincide with the publication of the annual report of the National Assembly for Wales’s independent Commissioner for Standards, Gerard Elias QC.

“It is a great honour for me to welcome such a leading figure within the judiciary to address an audience at the Assembly,” said Mr Elias.

“It is a unique opportunity for us to hear his insight into the issues of standards in public life.

“I will publish my annual report to coincide with the Lord Chief Justice’s lecture which will outline the work I have carried out during the past 12 months in relation to standards in the Assembly.”

The event will begin at 16.30 and spaces can be booked by contacting the Assembly’s booking line on on 0845 010 5500 or by emailing assembly.bookings@wales.gov.uk
