Assembly Committee kicks off football inquiry

7 March 2012

A National Assembly for Wales Committee is looking for opinions and ideas from people on the future of the Welsh Premier League.

The Communities, Equality and Local Government Committee has opened a public consultation on an inquiry which will examine issues such as the competition format, the development and progression of players, coaches and managers, and the future of the league.

“Wales has produced some of the finest footballers in the world and the passion shown by Welsh football supporters is second to none,” said Ann Jones AM, Chair of the Communities, Equality and Local Government Committee.

“While the domestic Welsh Premier League has a loyal following across the country this committee is keen to establish its contribution to Welsh football and its prospects for the future.”

“Welsh football fans are never short of an opinion about the game and I hope they will choose to share some of those opinions with us.”

Anyone wishing to submit information and evidence as part of the inquiry can either email CELG.Comm@wales.gov.uk or write to: Clerk to the Communities Equality and Local Government Committee, National Assembly for Wales, Cardiff Bay, Cardiff, CF99 1NA

The closing date for submissions is 13 April 2012.
