Assembly Committee to meet in Merthyr

The Communities and Culture Committee of the National Assembly for Wales will hold its next meeting in Merthyr Tydfil College on Thursday June 5th at 1.30pm.

The Committee will be gathering evidence for its current inquiry into domestic abuse. Members will listen to presentations from the All Wales Ethnic Minority Association (AWEMA), Minority Ethnic Women’s Network (MEWN) and New Pathways.

Chair of the Committee, Janice Gregory AM said: “Domestic abuse is an issue that affects people from all walks of life regardless of gender, sexuality race, age or socio-economic background. The committee is committed to examining the Welsh Assembly Government’s strategy for tackling the problem, the support available for victims and initiatives aimed at preventing domestic abuse. We are also interested in learning about activities that are taking place at a local level across the whole of Wales so that we can highlight best practice, which is why we are committed to taking the committee out of Cardiff to meet in the communities that are affected by this issue“

The meeting takes place at the Main Hall, Merthyr Tydfil College, Ynysfach Merthyr Tydfil from 1:30pm until 3.15pm on Thursday June 5th.
