Assembly Committee to meet in Wrexham

The Communities and Culture Committee of the National Assembly for Wales will hold its next meeting on Thursday 3 July in Wrexham. The Committee will meet at 9.30am at the North East Wales Institute of Higher Education.

The Committee will be gathering evidence for its current inquiry into Domestic Abuse and will hold discussions with the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) Wales; Criminal Justice Boards, the NSPCC and Cymdeithas Tai Hafan.

After the formal meeting, the Committee will also visit NSPCC and Cymdeithas Tai Hafan projects to talk to service providers and service users about issues affecting them.

Chair of the Committee, Janice Gregory AM said:

”Domestic abuse is an issue that affects people from all walks of life regardless of gender, sexuality race, age or socio-economic background. The committee is committed to examining the Welsh Assembly Government’s strategy for tackling the problem, the support available for victims and initiatives aimed at preventing domestic abuse. We are also interested in learning about activities that are taking place at a local level across the whole of Wales so that we can highlight best practice, which is why we are committed to taking the committee out of Cardiff to meet in the communities that are affected by this issue.“

The meeting takes place at the North East Wales Institute of Higher Education, Mold Rd, Wrexham from 9.30am until 11.45pm.
