Committee to discuss Football at Liberty Stadium

23 March 2006

The next meeting of the Culture, Welsh Language and Sport Committee of the National Assembly for Wales will be held at the Morfa Suite, The Liberty Stadium, Swansea. The topic for the meeting will be the Committee’s policy review of Football in Wales.

Members will take evidence from Swansea City Football Club and the Welsh Premier League. This is the second evidence session in the Committee’s review; more are planned up to the summer term, including a visit to North Wales. Chair of the Committee Rosemary Butler said; “Football is a very popular sport in Wales, enjoyed by many children and adults as players and spectators. It is therefore important that we review our policies in this area to ensure that the public get the best opportunities to enjoy and excel at the sport. It is very fitting that we are visiting Wales’s newest stadium to take evidence about the future of the game” The committee will also receive a report from the Minister for Culture, Welsh Language and Sport and agree the revised terms for the review of Arts in Wales. The meeting takes place on Thursday March 23rd from 1.30pm until 4.00pm in The Morfa Suite, The Liberty Stadium, Swansea. Full details and an agenda
