Committee to receive update on substance misuse

The Assembly’s Social Justice and Regeneration Committee will receive an update on substance misuse at its next meeting on Thursday January 18 2007. Members will receive a progress report on how the recommendations contained in the SJR Committee’s Review on Substance Misuse (published in March 2006) are being implemented by the Welsh Assembly Government.   The Committee will also receive updates on progress made under the Home Energy Conservation Act, and the Social Justice and Regeneration commitments with regard to Equality of Opportunity and examine the Draft Strategic Action Plan of the Voluntary Sector Scheme. Janice Gregory, Committee Chair said “The Committee’s policy review on Substance Misuse gave a very important opportunity to examine the issue and ultimately recommend a way forward to tackle the problem. A crucial part of any policy review is how the recommendations are taken forward, and this update will allow the Committee to evaluate and comment on the progress so far.” The meeting takes place at 9.30am on Thursday January 18 in the Senedd, Cardiff Bay.
